Arriving in Florianópolis
By bus: If you travel to Florianópolis by bus, you will arrive at Rita Maria Bus Station, which is located in the center of the city. Arriving at the bus station, you can walk to the urban bus station of the city, which is called TICEN. From TICEN you can go to the different districts of the city. The bus terminal TICEN is located in the same street as Rita Maria Bus Station (in a walking distance of 5 minutes). The main neighbourhoods of the city have an urban bus terminal (the urban bus station of the center in called TICEN, the urban bus station of Lagoa da Conceição neighbourhood is called TILAG, etc.)
By plane: The airport of Florianópolis, which is called Hercílio Luz Airport, is located in a distance of 11 km from the center of the city. It is the destination of different flights from all over Brazil. You can take the Executive Bus (also known as “Amarelinhos”), the Conventional Bus (Bus Line 183 - Corredor Sudoeste) or a taxi to get from the airport to the center or other districts of the city.
Where to stay
Since the island of Florianópolis is very extended, it is very important to decide in which region of the island you exactly want to stay. A lot of hotels, guest houses and hostels are located next to different beaches (in the southern, eastern and northern part of the island). Therefore it is very important to decide in which region you want to stay.
One of the most desired quarters is Lagoa da Conceição, which is located close to some beautiful beaches of the island such as Praia Mole and Joaquina. It is also a very nice place to enjoy the night life.
You can also find a lot of different hotels in the center of the city. From the city center you can easily get to other quarters of the city.
If you are looking for a place, where you can stay close to the ocean, the quarters Canasvieiras or Ingleses would be good options. In those quarters you can find a lot of hotels, guest houses and apartments close to the beautiful beaches of the island.

Where to go
The landscape of Florianópolis is really beautiful. You can see a lot of green gardens, waterfalls, beaches and places to do sports. Furthermore, you will find some really amazing trails that you can do on the island.

In the eastern part of the island, you can find the quarter Lagoa da Conceição, one of the most charming places on the island. The lagoon is an outstanding place to go for a walk during the day or also at night. Besides the natural beauties, you can find a lot of bars and restaurants in this quarter.
Additionally, Costa da Lagoa is a really nice place to enjoy the day. You can do a trail or go by boat and stop at one of the numerous bars and restaurants you can find on the way. In the eastern part of the island, you can find Joaquina beach with its outstanding dunes.
In the southern part of the island, you can find a lot of beautiful landscapes. The islands of Campeche can be considered as one of the most beautiful post card images of the southern region. You can find a beautiful beach on the island of Campeche, where you can go for a walk on a paradisical place.
Lagoinha do Leste is a really beautiful beach. It is the place, where a river disembogues into the ocean. The beach is very well preserved and forms part of the Municipal Park of Lagoinha do Leste. It is an outstanding place for people who want to relax. You can only reach the beach via trails coming from Pântano do Sul or from the coast of Matadeiro. The beaches of Matadeiro and Morro das Pedras are one of the favorite spots for surfers.
Next to the city of Florianópolis you can find the mountains region. Here we will find outstanding programs for cold winter days. The cities Rancho Queimado - known for its production of delicious strawberries - and Amaro da Imperatriz - known for its thermal waters - are the perfect destinations during a winter day.
Where to eat
The culinary of Florianópolis is famous for its fresh oysters and other seafood. Especially in the regions of Santo Antônio de Lisboa and Ribeirão da Ilha you can eat delicious seafood. In the villages of Santo Antônio de Lisboa and Ribeirão da Ilha, you can still see the Azorean Colonization (referring to the architecture, the handcraft and the culinary, etc.).
With the beginning of the winter, the temperature in the region falls suddenly and minimizes the options of leisure on the island. During this time of the year, you should try the tainha fish, which is fished next to the beaches of Ingleses and Pântano do Sul.
At Avenida das Rendeiras, around Lagoa da Conceição, there are several restaurants, where you can eat delicious seafood. Additionally, you will find outstanding alternatives in the quarters Canto da Lagoa and Barra da Lagoa.
When you cross the bridge, in direction to the continental part of the city, the quarters of Coqueiros and Via Gastronômica (including the quarters of Abraão, Itaguaçu and Bom Abrigo), offer you a lot of different bars and restaurants with an outstanding view to the island of Florianópolis.
