Accessibility

Novo Rio Bus Station is partially adapted to attend people with disability. There are several assistant services for people with disability or reduced mobility. You will find the following facilities and services at the bus station of Rio de Janeiro:

• 2 elevators (located at the arrival and departure area) for people with reduced mobility;
• 3 wheelchairs located at the information desk on the arrival and departure area of the basement floor;
• 3 ramps to access the central platform and the departure area on the upper floor;
• 2 escalators located at the arrival area;
• 2 escalators located at the departure area;
• 8 adapted restrooms (located at the upper and lower departure areas, at the lower arrival area and at the central platform);
• The Rodoviária has an assistance service for people with disability and for elderly people, providing assistance to help people with disability get to the arrival area, so that they don't have to go up or down the stairs alone.

Lost-property office

The passengers, who lose an item at the bus station, can get it back at the lost-property office (Operations Department). The business hours of the lost-property office are from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The items, which are found, will be saved during 30 days. If the items are not picked up after 30 days, they are donated to philanthropic institutions. To get the lost items back, you have to bring documents to proof that the items are yours.

ATMs

At Novo Rio Bus Station you can find a bank agency of the Caixa Econômica Federal (CEF), which is located at the arrival area on the upper floor. Additionally you can find 25 ATMs from Banco do Brasil, Banco Santander, Caixa Econômica, 24 Horas and Itaú. The ATMs are working 24 hours per day, and some of them operate with the most common international bank cards.

Parking areas

The parking lot is located next to the bus station and has a direct access to the arrival area on the upper floor. There are 311 parking slots (8 parking slots for people with disability and 15 for elderly people). The parking area is available 24 hours a day.

Baggage room

There are 2 baggage rooms at Novo Rio Bus Station. One of them is located at the arrival area and the other one at the departure area on the basement floor. The baggage room is operating during 24 hours per day.

Shops

At the bus station you can find different shops, where you can buy newspapers and magazines and you will also find snack bars and restaurants.

Restrooms

There are 10 restrooms at Novo Rio Bus Station:

• 4 at the arrival area, 4 at the departure area and 2 at the central platform. You have to pay a fee for the utilization of the restrooms.
• The access is free of charge for people older than 60 years and for people with disability. There is still one restroom, which is free of charge for all passengers (located at the departure area on the upper floor). You can also take a shower at the bus terminal. You have to pay a fee (you will receive a towel and soap).

Urban bus

Close to the departure area of Novo Rio Bus Station, you can find the urban bus station called Padre Henrique Otte. From this bus terminal you can go to different quarters of the city. For information about the bus lines, please access the official website of the urban bus station.

If you are looking for more comfort, you should use the Executive Buses (Ônibus Executivos), which are known under the name Frescões. The departure area of the executive bus lines is located close to Novo Rio Bus Station (close to the exit of the departure area).

Subway

There is a special bus line (bus line 133), which is integrated with the subway. It takes you from Novo Rio Bus Station to Estácio Bus Station, where you can take the subway to get to the southern area (Zona Sul) and the northern area (Zona Norte). Please don`t forget to ask for the integrated bus ticket. With this ticket you can catch the bus and the subway.

You can also take the executive bus line to go from Bus Station Novo Rio to the Airport Galeão and the Airport Santos Dumont.
